Philippines Mission Trip 2011 – 28th May update

Day 2: From Chris Ong

“Day two we really got into the swing of things and esp. the dentists were cranking out the numbers. Saw 107. I think that’s their max though. Really working very hard. Alvin has got blisters on his hands some to the point of bleeding … From pulling teeth. Tami has been working while having a cold. Frank is limping from a sore foot from standing all day for two days 🙂

Had to hold a torch for Tami today haha. Quite hard to hold a torch at the extraction spot while looking at the ceiling 😉 tami was gracious …

Everyone in the team is pulling their weight and being gracious with the adjustments that they have to make. I’m thinking it is a must do!

People here are so lovely. The captain of the barangay is coming tomorrow.”

Philippines Mission Trip 2011 – 27th May update

FGAM has just sent a group of medical young adults and adults to our sister church in Philippines, Shine FGA.

“We are heading to the Philippines with a group of dentists, doctors and an optometrist to help in the poor areas of Caloocan City. For many of us, this will be the first time we do this. We are really excited at the chance to make a difference in the lives of people who would not be able to afford the kind of services we are providing, and are thankful for the many donations we have had in order to make this trip possible. You’re welcome to follow along here as we journey. We appreciate your support and prayers.” ~ Philippines Mission Team

Updates from the team…

Today we met as a group at 6am. Left for venue at 6:30 after a quick breakfast. Then it was set up and all systems go at 8am. First day was a bit chaotic as we had plans and they had plans. Great seeing the spirit of unity and love prevail though and we worked everything out with grace and humility. Very proud of our team and very impressed with Ps. Gee’s.

We saw 367 (I think) patients today. Doctors took the lead with 100+ patients (and they even managed to finish early). Then Nina and Andrew at 90. And last came the dentists who also came in around 90 but there were four of them.

I was in sterilization and had four pressure cookers going.

There was evangelism. Prescription of drugs (Jason). Damian was on welcome. Pin sing and Shirley on triage. Very exciting (and super hot).
